Sugarplum Style, Vol. 29

Cheers to Friday! What do you have planned for the weekend? We're packing up the teenager, and driving him to East Texas for camp. It's going to be so quiet around here without him, but we also look forward to the time with just Little Miss.

UPDATE: I am devastated to wake up this morning to the unfathomable news in Dallas. My thoughts and prayers are with the brave officers and their families. And this great city.

Today it's your monthly dose of Sugarplum Style...snapshots of my everyday outfits I post to Instagram and Facebook, created by mixing-and-matching items in my closet. This round is kind of a mixed bag since it includes some outfits from our trip.

My off-the-shoulder obsession continues with this date-night-ready dress. The best part is the knit lining, so it's super soft. This one has a similar look, but I'd size up. Have you heard of the Bellabeat Leaf? It's like a fitness tracker specific for women (it tracks sleep and monthly cycle, too)...I've only be wearing it a few days, but so far I'm hooked!

We've had some steamy days recently, so I've taken to living in shift dresses. The stripes of this one make it a little sportier and casual, perfect for lake nights.

Another day, another shift dress. I love how easily they transition from day to night with just a shoe swap, and this one is under $50. #bonus

You saw this top in yesterday's {Three Ways} White Skirt post...I think I love it even more paired with shorts and sandals.

It was a little warm the day our ship disembarked in Rome, but since we were traveling from ship to bus, then train to car, I wanted to be comfortable and able to drag my bag up and down stairs without worrying about wardrobe malfunctions. Jeans and a tee were perfect. And perfectly comfortable, too.

The cruise had a packed itinerary (more recaps coming next week!), with only one day at sea...I kept it simple for exploring the ship and captain's bridge.

Favorite Sneakers (size down half-size) | Sunglasses

Stripes + Floral forever!

Favorite Sneakers (size down half-size) | Sunglasses

This dress was definitely the most popular of all my travel style posts...rightfully so with the darling embroidery, full lining and pockets! Oh, and now back in stock! (See more from our day in Marbella, Spain.)

This striped skirt has been on repeat...I love the gauzy lightweight and pockets. Plus stripes. #duh

Favorite Sneakers (size down half-size) | Sunglasses | Pink Crossbody

Are you sick of this striped bag yet?! I carried it everywhere...turns out it's a great carry-on for travel, day bag for schlepping around, and days by the pool.

Um, so maybe I've reached my shift dress quota. But how could I resist this gorgeous cobalt blue and floral print?

Also, I had no idea just how often I reach for these sneakers!! But they're honestly the most comfortable shoes I have...next to flip-flops anyway. I've had a lot of questions about how to keep them clean, and I wish I had some sage advice for you, but I haven't done one thing!?

I wore them all over Europe, and almost daily since, and they look good as new! I'll probably treat them with some Scotch Guard soon...and a good scrubbing with a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser usually does the trick on scuffs.

I'd like to say this was my Fourth of July outfit...but I wear this red, white and blue combo all season long.

Cap | Favorite Sneakers (size down half-size)

This maxi dress is an oldie but goodie, and now back in tons of colors and patterns...and on sale for $38! The adjustable straps mean I didn't have to hem it, either!

I changed out of my swimsuit long enough to load up on fireworks for the Fourth...thank goodness for ball caps!

Favorite Sneakers (size down half-size)

This tasseled skirt has been a favorite, too...replacing shorts most weekends.

I wouldn't last 5 minutes in this outfit now, but a month ago it was perfect for a casual night out.

Sometimes I get in the habit of only reaching for tees this time of year, but with the sleeves rolled up, a lightweight button-up can be just as cool. And obviously cuter.

Gingham Shirt | White Shorts | Favorite Sneakers (size down half-size)

Would you believe this view is real, and I'm not standing in front of a green screen?! Positano, Italy is absolutely heaven on earth...I can't wait to recap it for you!

Oops, there's that shift dress again...this time dressed up for Date Night!

Necklace | Bra

I hope these posts inspire you to create new combinations from your closet! The key isn't to have more clothes, but to mix up what you do have in new and different ways. Except these sneakers and this pom pom clutch, you need those. #trustme #enabler

  3. You in front of the fireworks stand. You look 14. MAYBE 15. So flipping cute.

  4. Thank you for the great looks. What exactly would you suggest to wear for undergarments when sporting a racerback dress or maybe a floral dress such as the one you have listed on your post?

  5. My thoughts and prayers go out to all involved in this horrific tragedy. Why do people think more violence is the answer???? Heartbreaking.

  6. You were first thing on my mind yesterday! Glad I got to hear your voice. Big hugs friend!

  7. I've been thinking about the pink shift dress you love, but was curious if it'd be too "tent" like on me. I'm 5'4" (1/2) and moderately pear shaped. Thoughts ? AND I've tried on the Shoreline converse and they instantly hurt my feet because they are so flat. Are you the type that wear any kind of shoe?
I too am from the Dallas/Ft. Worth area and am heartbroken for our city.
