Blogger Conference: What I Wore

Cheers to Friday, friends! We've got more rain ahead (if that's even possible at this point!), and I'm kind of happy about that. I love a good excuse to lay low and be a couch potato with the family. And I'm sure I'll find something else I can wash! (Check out yesterday's Laundry Room update to see why I'm fawning over laundry!)

A few weekends ago, I packed up and headed to Dallas with some of my favorite blogger-buds. Technically (as far as Mr. SP is concerned anyway) it was for a blogger conference. And sure I picked up a few bloggy tips, but it was mostly an excuse for a girl's weekend and excessive taco-consumption.

Watch out, Dallas, mama got a sitter!!

I kid...We were mostly excited to catch-up on girl talk and sleep, so we left da clubs to the single ladies! And because I made a legit effort to get fully dressed everyday, I thought I'd share what I wore all weekend. It was a combination of classroom sessions, luncheons, and cocktail parties.

What does it say about us that we don't hesitate to selfie, or get embarrassed about it?! But how else are we going to over-share on the internet if we don't document it?! ;) I jumped at the chance to try Rent the Runway again, and hit another home run with this dress. It was perfect for the pool-side cocktail party. (Read all about my experience with Rent the Runway here.)

I adore all these girls, and loved the chance to recharge and reconnect. If you aren't following their blogs, you're definitely missing out on great style inspiration!

Ya'll have gone bananas over this dress...and I wish I could find it for you, but I bought it on super clearance at a local boutique. Hence why I refrained from showing you the adorable open back...figured no sense in rubbing your nose in it! ;) (Update: a reader found this one on eBay!)

I have lots of favorite items in my closet, but the one thing I reach for time and again, the one piece that makes me feel confident no matter the situation, and most like myself...is this floral skirt. I've paired it with everything from stripes and solids, to dots and gingham...and I know I'll shed a tear when it finally bites the dust.

I found this old pic from the very same conference two years ago! I even wore the skirt to the BHG Stylemaker Event last Fall! Do you have that one piece in your closet that makes you feel like a Superwoman/Girl Boss every time you wear it?! You should!

Style Tip: Even if you repeat-wear items around the same people...I promise no one will notice! And if they do, oh well! It's more important to feel good and confident, than it is to sport some new outfit everyone will forget the next day! #preach #soapbox

For the final night's party, I broke out of my fit-and-flare comfort zone, and wore the dress ya'll chose in this post. I'll admit, I felt a bit more on display than I'm usually comfortable with, but it was also kind of empowering to put my body out there. Does that make sense? (I mean tastefully, Mom, don't panic!)

Full disclosure, I did leave the jacket on all night! #securityblanket #bigtalker #biggerwimp

I think I've been in ponytails every day since...but it was so fun to put extra effort into my daily style, and make time for myself and my girlfriends. In fact, I'm ready to go again!! When's the last time you made time for yourself? And what's your #girlboss item of clothing? I'd love to hear! Happy weekend, lovebugs!

  3. Looks like a fun weekend! i love all of your outfits and totally agree about it being ok to repeat. I'd rather have a handful of clothes that I feel awesome in than always getting something new for different occasions.

  4. What a fun time! Very best part of shopping at Nordstrom...I received the Vince Camuto white jeans just yesterday but ordered prior to the sale....emailed customer service and already received the no hassle price adjustment. Headed to try them today...if I can find a pair of neutral panties that are clean....ugh....looks like laundry will be on my list this weekend!

  7. Great outfits!! I just love the tote and necklace! I just can't bring myself to spend that much!! You know what I'd love to see? A "hi lo project". You post some of your favorite items and if they are on the pricier side, maybe a less expensive alternative!!

    2. Thank you!! Didn't find exactly what I was looking for, but I love these posts. I did, however, come across a similar less expensive version of the tassel necklace yesterday...one at Charming Charlie's...was on clearance...paid $4.50, but different colors and smaller beads. And then one on Instagram through a Boutique I shop at...very similar. Now I'm in search of that pink rugby stripe tote from a different post but no where near $155!!! Thank you and keep making these lovely posts!

If I could take one photo of myself that looks as pretty as you in that pink skirt and black top, I would be thrilled!! Such a pretty look!

  10. Cassie I love your blog and all your cute fashions. Can you recommend any bloggers similar to you (home décor & personal fashion) for ladies who "may not" be a size "S" or 4...in other words fashions that might look nice on a "bigger" gal (but not necessarily plus sized)... Any recommendations?

    1. So many bloggers out there...in all shapes and sizes. And while we might not be the same size, combinations and outfits are the same...so hopefully you find some inspiration here for mixing and pairing things up! :) xoxo

  11. Hi! I have never commented before, Cassie, but wanted to say thank you for teaching/reminding me how to mix and match my wardrobe in a classy way! I am a thirty-something mom of three under 5 years old, and disposable income is less and less :) Love your blog!
Also wanted to mention, I found this dress at Nordstrom and thought that klosmo might love it! http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/city-chic-holiday-romance-print-fit-flare-dress-plus-size/4368679?origin=keywordsearch-personalizedsort&fashioncolor=IVORY

  13. I loved this post and thought that it was super thoughtful of you to mention the repeat wearing of items (especially ones you love!) and that no one will notice. I have been a follower of "The Daily Connoisseur" blog (aka. "Lessons from Madame Chic" author) for years and she focuses on the idea of building a capsule wardrobe and suggests adding pieces that you love to wear again and again. The floral skirt really could easily be one of those special items- thank you for the suggestion. As always, hoping that your weekend is off to a perfect start.
