Oh Christmas Tree!

I don't know if it's the kid's ages, or just being in the new house, but I haven't been this excited about Christmas in a long time. Don't get me wrong, I'm excited every year, but this one seems to be a whole new level of festive, warm fuzzies.

Is it weird that as soon as we moved in, my first thought was of where we'd put the Christmas tree? The kids wanted it in the main family room (otherwise known as next to the TV), and Mr. SP and I thought it'd be gorgeous in the new Living Room. Okay, gorgeous was my word, not his. But he nodded in agreement. But can't you just picture it between the windows?! #sigh

In the end, I think we came to a great compromise...placing it near the new Living Room, but also so it could be seen from the main family lounging spot. Come on in and see for yourself!

There was nothing wrong with our old 7-foot tree, but I couldn't pass up the chance to show off the taller ceilings in this house, so we replaced it with this beautiful 9-foot Addison Slim Spruce care of Treetopia. I chose it not only for it's height, but realistic looking needles, and slender shape. (See where our old tree ended up here!)

Our last few Christmases have been really colorful, with bright, color-blocked trees, but for some reason, this new house has me feeling traditional. With a touch of glam, of course. So we adorned the tree with grapevine garland, disco balls, striped bows, and sentimental ornaments. No real theme, other than to make it special to us.

The tree skirt might be my favorite part. I've been lusting over it for years (even made my own DIY version of one!). For the record, the real-deal is world's better! #duh

But I'm pretty smitten with the fair isle reindeer my son stuck on top, too. So smitten, in fact, you'll notice members of his whole family in all my Christmas posts this month!

We collect keepsake ornaments from our travels, as well as annual picture ornaments of the kids, so decorating the tree is always a sweet walk down memory lane.

I'm savoring every second of this holiday with Little Miss, while she still believes in the magic of Christmas.

  4. Aw, so pretty! We never decorate our tree with a theme...always with keepsake ornaments and other ornaments my kids have made. I'm also trying to savor having children who still believe in the magic of Christmas as my oldest is 9 and I can see the belief slowly slipping away each year.

    1. Thank you! I was actually going to use those $5 grapevine wreaths from the craft store, and just cut it so it unraveled and I could wrap around the tree. But then noticed they sell grapevine garland in long lengths, so I went with a few of those. But looking back, I'd probably go the wreath route...so much cheaper....although tons messier, so unwrap it outside before adding to your tree! Hope this helps! xo

  14. Beautiful tree! I love that you mixed in your sentimental ornaments -- memories are so important this time of year. :-) And I don't think it's weird to immediately think about where you are going to put the tree when you move somewhere new. That is one of the first things I try to figure out, too!

  22. Hi Cassie! I love your Christmas Decor. It all looks so festive! While going through this post, I noticed you moved your framed travel pictures to your staircase wall in your new home. It looks awesome! I have a similar staircase and would love to see a closer look at the layout. You've toatlly inspired me to adopt this look for our home. Can you do a post or instagram a closer look at the pics on the wall and the staircase? I'm new to the blogging world: www.glimpse3sixty.com!

    1. Good eye, Seema!! Yes...we just hung all those pics in the stairwell...it was a little treacherous given how tall the ceilings are, but I love it! The entire stairwell had a big makeover, so I'll be sure to share that process, and all the pics, in the new year!! And welcome to the blogging community!! xo
