Project Little Miss

When we first moved, my intention was to show you a full 'Before House Tour'...giving you a glimpse of what this new pad looked like before we made our imprint. But you know what they say about good intentions.

Life, and schools, and jobs, and travels all happened, and before I knew it, we were knee-deep in the {One Room Challenge}, and showing you progress and reveal pictures was a lot more fun! I may still  go back to that original plan, but without blueprints, it's kind of hard for you to see what's what, and where it is. Know what I mean? (And this girl is not savvy enough to draw blueprints!!)

This house is a dream-come-true, and has every wish list item I'd ever hoped for in a future home. There is not one thing I would change, or add, to the floor plan, size, or location. That being said, there was also not one ounce of personality in it, no offensive colors or fixtures, no glaring issues...it was the blankest of blank slates! #whoop #thankyouseller

Well, I take that back, this wallpaper border is fairly questionable, as was the fruit basket backsplash tile.

So we've been hard at work giving this home the Sugarplum stamp, in fact, working faster than I can blog it! But I know you like to see makeovers from the beginning, and the process along the way, so that's where I'll start with each new room. Hopefully sooner rather than later, you'll have seen most of the house this way. ;)

But enough blabber...let's get after the next room! She's been known as Babygirl on the blog, but after nine years, I think our daughter is now more of a Little Miss. She's spunky, quirky, opinionated, and knows what she wants!

Both kids were able to pick their own rooms upstairs, and thankfully, they each chose different ones! Little Miss is at the top of the stairs, and facing the front.

She has a double closet, two tall windows, and a high pitched ceiling.

I knew we wanted to show off that ceiling with a fun color, so the only change we made before moving in was painting the walls Sherwin Williams 'Alabaster.' Having her help us paint, and spending time in the house before moving, really helped her transition. She already felt an ownership of the space (although she didn't like sleeping upstairs away from us for the first two months!)

All her existing bedroom pieces fit perfectly, and at first she wanted to duplicate her old room exactly. But Kristin was able to convince her this was her chance for a fun, updated space, and they could create it together. And fortunately, we also agreed to keep the pieces their current color! #whew

Here's the un-styled, real-life pics of her room.

She's already off to a good start, but I can't wait to layer in all the finishing pieces to give my spunky Little Miss a room suitable of her personality! Up next, the floor plan, mood board, and project list. If you can't wait, there have been a few sneak peeks on InstaGram and Facebook under #ProjectLittleMiss.
