And lucky for you, I've got a Kardashian-sized Dressing Room Diaries today, featuring tons of my favorite finds from the sale. You guys seem to like the occasional dressing room snaps I post on InstaGram using #HSPDressingRoomDiaries, so I thought it'd be fun to expand it for the blog.
The shots aren't good, the lighting is bad, my hair is usually past it's expiration, and many of the items aren't a good fit for me...but it's real life, real girl, real clothes...and hopefully helpful for you to see them this way, instead of perfectly styled on a model. I even drug Mr. SP with me for one of the trips (yes, there were many!). Let's get after it, shall we?
Sidenote: The shoes and jewelry I'm wearing in these pics just happen to be what I had on that day, not necessarily what I'd pair with the outfits.
Side note to the sidenote: Everything fits true-to-size unless I indicate otherwise.
The biggest surprise by far is this shirt. I didn't think too much about it when I ordered it, or have high expectations...afterall, it's just a white button-down...but wowza is it the perfect, casual, white button-down. It's got kind of a sexy, laid-back look, and feels like heaven. I didn't try the other colors on, but the white was by far my favorite. The jeans are so soft they don't even feel like jeans, and you don't need me to talk about the boots. #perfection #getthem #trustme
Tip: Size down one in the jeans.
Picture these moto pants with booties, and you've got my new Fall uniform.
Tip: I sized up one in the pants, but ordered my usual size for comparison, too. I'll let you know when they arrive. But these pants sold-out in pre-sale, so if they restock, you might want to scoop them up!
Fringe + Infinity + Cozy + $12 = Enough Said.
This top is really cute and flattering...and comes in 3 great patterns (there's a fourth pattern, but I didn't love it). The only reason I didn't get it is because I couldn't choose between the three.
Tip: Size up one...even if you're small-chested.
There's something so chic about a v-neck and dark jeans. This one is really soft, well-made, and a great price point. This brand of jeans is new to me, but the salesperson raved about them and said they are one of the most popular. Who am I to argue with the masses...so I tried them. And loved them! They have good hold-it-all-in-powers, and are a bit higher on the waist (no muffin-top!), but without giving me the dreaded bootie-gap. (That space between you and the jeans.) I'm wearing them in each of the three pics above, too.
Tip: Size up one in the sweater for a relaxed fit like I'm wearing.
Here's a striped version of the same v-neck sweater, layered over a cute plaid top. These jeans are a nice dark rinse, with no fading or distressing, and fit like a glove. In fact, they feel almost like jeggings. (For the record, I do not like the white version of these jeans...way too thin for this jelly.)
The shirt is so cute it needed to be shown alone. Plaids can be tricky....they tend go lumberjack very quickly. I liked that this one has a more feminine pattern and shape. These jeans weren't my favorite (even though I typically love the brand), but I might like them better if I sized down.
This was another darling and feminine plaid...and I'm a sucker for a good popover top. It's also long enough to wear with leggings. #bonus These jeans were another surprise...great rinse, very sturdy denim, and no muffin top or bootie gap. I highly recommend them for the ladies who prefer not to shop the Juniors department, but still want to look current.
Such a fun statement coat, and doesn't break the bank.
Babygirl wanted to shop the sale, too....the Woman's sale! #nochancelittlelady This shawl-collared cardi would be a fun wrap or in place of a light jacket. The tshirt, however, is the poorest fit ever...I could barely get my arms in it! Even after sizing up! #pass
It's hard to see in this picture, but these leggings are pretty genius....faux leather, but the butt and waist is stretchy cotton! So only the legs look leather...making them look cool and edgy, yet totally comfortable. (Remember the 'Friends' episode when Ross got stuck in the leather pants?!) The top looked awful online, but completely adorable in person. It's not quite long enough to wear with leggings though. #aintnobodywantstoseethat
Another cute top...great with jeans, but you could also pair it with slacks and a pendant necklace for work. I'm wearing it with the 'grown-up' jeans...which I reached for repeatedly. #alwaysagoodsign
Obviously I'm a fan of this year's cognac zipper bag (I still adore mine from last year), but this is a great option, too. You'd be hard-pressed to notice it's not real leather.
Nevermind my lake hair...I was really excited to try these fringe booties...and they did not disappoint! So fun, and truly comfortable. I'll wear mine with ankle socks, so my usual size worked perfectly. This cardigan is a tad long on me, but it was as soft as a kitten's embrace. Seriously, one of those things you'd reach for the second you got home every day.
Great leopard pumps, especially for those of you who prefer a manageable heel. These are lower (about 2.5-inches), but still sexy.
I tried several other booties, and also really love these...they are in route to my house, so I'll report back on them. The ankle bootie in the middle was really flattering on the leg, too. I should have worn jeans that day to give you a better idea...but it's July in Texas! I did, however, get tons of compliments on my skirt!
This sale is a great time to stock up on work wear, and I really loved this pencil skirt. Fun pattern, and nice structure. You can't see the blouse very well in the pic, but it's a flattering drape-front...it'd be really easy to transition to weekend and date night.
This has become my go-to, most comfortable tshirt...I grab a new color every time they go on sale. And these jeans aren't in the sale, but I loved the fit.
And finally, these last two dresses aren't part of the Anniversary Sale, per say...but are on super, end-of-season sale. Like $25 each sale. #yourewelcome
Tip: Size up one if you plan on
breathing eating in it.
