{One Room Challenge} Week 4

Welcome back to Week 4 of the {One Room Challenge}. We are officially on the backside of this thing, and my palms are seriously sweaty. Lots of things arrived this week, but not a lot actually got done. So basically the UPS man did all the work.

Let's recap for those just popping in, or had a memory lapse....we recently moved, so I had a whole house of rooms from which to choose for the ORC, but Mr. SP and I decided to put ourselves first this time (as opposed to last, like our previous home)...so I'm tackling our Master Bedroom!

Week One I showed the Before shots and room dimensions...and Week Two was all about the Design and Floor Plan. Last week I revealed our crossover to the dark side, and I was thrilled to hear ya'll are swooning over the dark walls with me!

Okay, now that we're all on the same page...let's get after Week Four! Starting with the biggest change...the new Linden Black Duvet & Shams from Crane & Canopy. I know it's popular with bloggers, but it's just that good! I wanted the bedding to feel clean, yet dramatic, and also serve as a canvas for the rest of the fabrics. #doneanddone

Hi Sugarplum | One Room Challenge Week 4

If you recall from the original mood board, my plan included two white-washed nightstands. Then they sold out, with a backorder date of May 15. Normally that would be okay, but this isn't normal. This is One Week Challenge! #6weeksbaby

I'll admit I got a little panicky, and my voice may have bordered on shrill when I realized I needed a Plan B. But Mr. SP said, 'How about some wood to mix up all the padded stuff you have going?'

That's guy speak for, 'Warm wood tones would be a nice balance to all the upholstered pieces in the room.'

And just like his idea for the Kitchen backsplash tile, the man was right. The wood looks amazing next to the dark walls, and adds warmth and texture.

Tip: Don't limit yourself to just nightstands beside the bed. These beauties from Wayfair are actually consoles. Had we needed more storage, I would have opted for chests with a full bank of drawers.

More deliveries arrived in the form of throw pillows! Could you just die over this combo?!

Hi Sugarplum | One Room Challenge Week 4
Malachite/Trellis (Loom Decor) | Lulu Leopard (Tonic Living) | Orangerie (Stuck on Hue)

I'm still undecided where everything will end up, but I love where it's going!

Hi Sugarplum | One Room Challenge Week 4

Why have basic white when you can sleep on pink flamingos?! I think all rooms should have something quirky and unexpected...to keep from taking itself too seriously.

Tip: Use a solid fitted sheet to cover exposed box springs.

Hi Sugarplum | One Room Challenge Week 4

The other side of the bed is flanked by a console table as well. I'm not usually one for matched sets, but I love the clean symmetry of coordinated or matching nightstands. I'm still playing musical blue chair, but you all made it pretty clear it needs to live in this room.

Hi Sugarplum | One Room Challenge Week 4

My makeshift desk moved to the other side of the room, and is still waiting to be addressed.

Hi Sugarplum | One Room Challenge Week 4

This week's hiccup is with the mirrors....we brought them home, only to discover the finishes are completely different. Back it goes for another one with the same aged finish.

Hi Sugarplum | One Room Challenge Week 4

I'm still playing with the sitting area, but am already cuckoo for the throw (Happy Habitat) and pillow situation. I found the little side table from Ross for $20!! #howyoulikethemapples It might need a coat of paint...we'll see.

Hi Sugarplum | One Room Challenge Week 4

The final delivery of the week was the drapery panels. Holy wow...I can't even deal with how stunningly perfect Tonic Living made them!! I've never owned professionally sewn, lined, and pleated drapes!! I'm both anxious and petrified to hang them.

Hi Sugarplum | One Room Challenge Week 4

I guess we had more progress than I realized...I'm just focused on how much more there is to do! Linda, can I file an extension please?!

  2. I'm waaaayyyyy too excited about your malachite pillows. How fab is the green with the black and white? Redoing my own bedroom in a few months, will file that away in the old memory bank.

  11. Love how the space is coming along! Really makes me want to pull the trigger on dark moody walls in the bedroom :) I'm also a fan of the console tables but I'm a freak about seeing cords...Will you be able to find a way to hide them? It's probably just my neurosis but it's all I see when I look at the pictures of the side tables :-/

  27. So much good going on in there, my dear! I love the sheets...adorable! And the draperies are ridiculous in the best sense of the word! I want to do dark walls in our bedroom too...navy with black and white in the room. Seeing yours underway makes me want to get started...and toss in a lot more color! Love it!

  29. Am I the only one who thinks the bed looks kinda sloppy?

  30. Love all your splashes of fun colors and what about those pink flamingo sheets?!! Who knew Martha Stewart could be whimsical??!! Will have to totally check those out!

  31. I'm loving where you're going with this room! It's shaping up so classy and yet so fun. I, too, wonder (like a previous comment) about the nightstand lamp cords just because I always like to hide them in my house. I'm thinking you can wind them up behind your nightstand and tape them in place on the backside and then come down from the center to the outlet. That would work because your cords are dark like your walls. Just an idea! Janie

  32. Whoa girl...this is going to be a big girl room!!! Those curtains are going to kill me against the dark walls! You have gotten so much done including those great nightstands and of course THE PILLOWS!

    ReplyDelete
  33. I'm loving your room! I want those drapes something fierce! Where'd you get the coverlet on your bed?

    ReplyDelete
  34. Love the bedding and the flamingo sheets are awesome! Clever idea using the consoles as nightstands, though in my house that would just mean more room for water glasses haha.

Your comments are like popcorn with milk duds, I just can't quit them. Thanks for taking the time to share your positive thoughts! xoxo, cass
