Eenie Meenie Miney Rug

Thank you for the congrats on selling our house...there's no doubt luck was on our side with this one! As cliche as it is, from the very beginning we've had the sense that this whole move was meant to be. Too many times I've let desires cloud my judgement, and ended up trying to shove a square peg in a round hole...it feels good to know the peg was round this time.

But there's no packing going on yet...first up is the big photo shoot happening next week!! Not only have we been prepping our house for listing (see my tips here), but at the same time we were scrambling to complete the room makeovers for the magazines. I've got a lot to show you in the coming weeks...projects and updates for both houses, so it will be a little ADD around here!

Ever since painting the Dining Room pink and red, the gray rug no longer seemed to work in the space. But I wasn't going to ditch a perfectly good rug just because it looked so-so in the room. But as luck would have it, the Family Room needed a rug, and the gray one from the Dining Room worked perfectly (I'll show you soon)! Musical rugs saves the day. And oh darn, that left the Dining Room without a rug!

I went straight to my favorite rug source...Rugs USA...and started sorting through the options. I couldn't decide if I wanted something to balance out the ceiling, coordinate with the walls, or tie in with the drapes. Fortunately I have an uber-talented friend, and she whipped together mock-ups showing my top five rug choices. Everyone should have an uber-talented friend, because as soon as she texted me these screen shots, I knew the clear winner. And it wasn't my top choice originally!

So which rug do you choose for the room? And which rug do you think I chose?

1. Pink
2. Pink & Chartreuse
3. Navy
4. Navy Geometric
5. Navy Stripes

P.S. Rugs USA is having one of their crazy sales right now...so hop over if you're in the market!

P.P.S. I get a lot of questions on my #SugarplumStyle posts on InstaGram and Facebook, and sometimes I don't see them all!! I hate when I miss them, but did you know you can Shop My Feed directly from my sidebar? I always try to link the exact item I'm wearing, or something really similar. xo. c

  1. Well, I love pink, so I sort of hope you chose #1...but #5 is also very cohesive and complementary of the design of the room.

  2. The blue rug make the drapes pop..otherwise too much pink!

  3. Navy geometric! Gosh how I need me a friend like that....this is where I suck....I absolutely know when I see something whether like it or not but getting to that point can take me years.

  4. Love the classic look of number three.

  6. Wow! Tough choice! I'm on the notify list for #1 when it gets back in stock, so I really thought I'd like that one the best. I actually love #3 best in your space though. They all are great, can't wait to see what you chose, all would look wonderful!

    1. Hi! Do you remember what #1 is called? I can't find it on the RugsUSA website for the life of me and I'd like to be on the notify list too! Thanks so much

  7. I like 3, but think you chose 4

  8. 3 or 4 - Navy ones. I like the balance of navy with pink. And the navy grounds the room. option 5 seems a bit jarring since the lines are offset.

    Good luck!

  9. We have the multi-colored version of the navy geometric in our living room (and actually had our carpet installer sew two of them together b/c we needed a larger rug than the 8x10) and we LOVE it. Great color, good quality, great price. Do it!!

  10. Number 3 is my fav! I've never seen the blue version! I love my over dyed rug from Rugs USA! I have the teal one in my office.

  11. #2 and #4. #2 emphasizes the pink and #4 brings out the blue in the curtains ... I hadn't noticed what color they were until I saw #4. I had to scroll back and see if they were the same curtains.

  12. #3 - grounds the room and makes it less "sweet" than #1

  13. #3 for me! It brings out the navy in the drapes and complements the pink walls and red ceiling...and in my humble opinion, (A) #1 and #2 are pretty, but too much pink and if they are off in real life (cause lord knows the colors in pictures on the website are not always the color when you get the rug), could clash big time; and (B) #4 and #5 are too busy and make the room feel a bit chaotic.

  14. My favorites are 5 and 1... we'll be surprised to see what you picked!

  15. #3 for me! Excited to see what you choose!

  16. #2 is definitely my favorite!

  19. I love the navy choices, I like #3 however, #4 seems a little more fun.....and you seem fun!!! :)

  20. 4 or 5! I like 4, wish 5's line were not offset

  21. That navy #3 is making me swooooooon!

    ReplyDelete
  22. I can't help it! I love the pinks! 1 & 2!!

  23. Congrats--so excited for the quick sale for you and not having to stress over 2 mortgages--BTDT! Love both the blue and white rugs but I have to say, I am betting you went with #5.

  24. I like # 3.! It keeps the room calm.

    ReplyDelete
  25. I vote for #3....but I think you might have chosen #5. :)

    ReplyDelete
  26. Can you link the rugs? I'm in love with that navy geometric (#4) and want it for my dining room!

    ReplyDelete
  27. I vote for 4 it makes the room pop, but the piano lamp shade would need to change, a simple fix. Five is nice but the off-set stripes makes it look like you sewed two rugs together yourself. Which rug is going to work in your next house is the question?

    ReplyDelete
  28. My first thought was #3, but more I looked at them I really like #5. It brings in the blue color from the curtains, but overall feels lighter than all the other ones.

    ReplyDelete
  29. #4 is my favorite! #3 is my 2nd favorite

    ReplyDelete
  30. Thought I'd be the only one going for #3 but clearly it spoke to US for a reason! Can't wait to see if its the winner.

  31. #3 or 5! 4 is too busy, 1 & 2 is too much pink! I think you'll go with stripes!

    ReplyDelete
  32. I like #2. I never would have picked that on my own but I love how it is not matchy matchy but looks fabulous!

    ReplyDelete
  33. Do you need to pick something that will go into your new home??? Does that bear any relavance. Are you buying a rug just for the photo shoot? or is the company lending it to you? Do you plan to sell it after the photo shoot? Just curious and thanks for any additional information.

    1. Silly me... I get it now Cassie. Yup I skimmed.....and so I think 4?????

  34. I love the bold color of rug #1, but would change the red/white strip lampshade to a tan/white stripe or solid blue as in the drapery.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I vote #3 as my favorite with #2 being my least favorite. (Just being honest) Can't wait to see which one you choose! So excited for you!!!

    ReplyDelete
  36. #3 really looks great with your drapes.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Looks like I'm the minority here but I love the look of #1 ;)

    ReplyDelete
  38. #1 Looks amazing! #3 looks great too. I hope you went with #1 for the POP!

    ReplyDelete
  39. My favourite is #2, I think it balances the bold ceiling without being too "bold". The navy stripes look really good too. I'm eager to know what you chose!

By the way, I tried to comment yesterday from my mobile phone and a suspicious pop-up kept showing, taking me to a different page. Has this happened to anyone else or is it just my phone?

    ReplyDelete
  40. I pick #4, but I think the girly in you will pick #2.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Definitely number 4 or 5! I think I would prefer an even stripe, so almost number five, but without the unevenness that makes it look like two rugs sewn together. Excited to see what you decide!

    ReplyDelete
  42. I love #3 -2 is second choice. I don't have a clue what you might pick but I'm sure it will look great.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Going with number 4, the navy geometric for your choice and mine. It sings without the warble of the pink...in my silly opinion., can't wait to hear!

    ReplyDelete
  44. There is the most annoying pop up ad on your site..."ever been arrested?" I'm sure you didn't choose it! lol.

    ReplyDelete
  45. I like #4 and #5 second. I think the complement the curtains and room best.

    ReplyDelete
  46. n order of like...#2, #4, or #5. Thinking you might have gone with #5.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Number 1 is my fav for sure but also like number 3. They all look great

    ReplyDelete
  48. I love how #4 really brings it all together.

    ReplyDelete
  49. My choices are #3 first, then #1. Unless you are trying to go sweet and romantic, then it'd be #2.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Will say 3 but possibly 4? Do tell!

    ReplyDelete
  51. My guesses are 4, and 5. I love them both and they both compliment the curtains.

    ReplyDelete
  52. I love #1!! Do you remember what it was called?? I'd love to have it in my house and I have searched and searched RugsUSA and can't find it! Thanks so much!
