The Friday Five

Hall-le-freaking-luiah...it's Friday. This fourth quarter is trying to kill me! Thank goodness I have this happy place to escape to and talk about cute Fall fashion and pretty spaces with you guys!

1) I've shared this fleece wrap cardi a few times, but hadn't bit the bullet myself until this week (even though it has almost 2k perfect reviews!). And now I've officially drunk the Kool-Aid!! Holy wow, this is one crazy cozy, soft, comfortable piece that is so fun to wear with jeans or leggings. Seriously, it's like being wrapped in kittens...that have been declawed. You can wear it open like a drapey cardi, or button it for a different look. I'll show you next week. It's crazy to be so comfy, while still looking pulled together!

This is the exact one I have (in XS regular), but I'm already scheming which one to get next while they are still on sale! And since Nordstrom is having a big clearance sale, I created this entire outfit with all sale pieces. #bam!

Cozy Weekend

2) Speaking of the big sale...earlier this week I showed you a great collection of coats under $200, then a friend alerted me to Nordstrom's amazing coats under $100 tab!!! I love when they break items down by price point...anyone can find a nice coat for $500, but finding a great coat for $68 takes a bit more perseverance! These are the styles I think every wardrobe could benefit from, and my favorites of each. Between the sale and Nordstrom's fair prices, they are all great deals.

Trench Coats: one // two // three
Puffers: one // two // three
Just for Fun: one // two // three

So great, right?! And remember this cute plaid jacket...it's on sale for $34! #hello!

3) If you want some eye candy like you've never seen, check out the latest reveals from the One Room Challenge. I don't know how these gals bring thunder like this in just six weeks, but it is so inspiring!

4) We've been making some changes to the front of our house...increasing the curb appeal a bit, so I was especially smitten with A Beautiful Mess's project of modern house numbers. And how fun is that door color? I wonder what our neighbors would say about that!?

5) Okay, obviously I spent a fair amount of time browsing the Nordstrom sale this week...and discovered the ridiculous similarities of these two dresses...but with drastically different price tags. Granted, the Valentino is going to be higher quality, but come on!! I don't think I could ever spend that for a piece of clothing, no matter how much money I had!! But I sure did scoop up the $40 version! But if you have money burning a hole in your pocket, and insist on buying a Valentino dress with it...please get this one. It's divine. And on sale. #bargain #butnotreally

Hi Sugarplum | Save vs Splurge lace dress

Now I'm dying to know what's the most expensive item in your closet! Seriously, share in the comments...we won't judge! I'll go through my closet this weekend and report back. Happy weekend, lovebugs!

  2. My Frye boots that I splurged on this year are the most expensive item in my closet. AND I LOVE THEM. Worth EVERY. SINGLE. PENNY.

  5. I think I love all of those coats! And that bargain black dress is super cute!
Most expensive thing in my closet? I splurged on my hunter wellies earlier this year and it was a great investment! I have a bebe leather coat that was pretty pricey, and I don't get to wear it enough :( Other than that I have my seatbelt bag by Harvey's. I have had it for a good 7 years and still carry it almost every day! Love it! http://www.seatbeltbags.com/

  6. Ok I just bought the kitten fleece but in the darker stripe so we won't be too much like twinsies! :)

I participated in the 6 week challenge. Pop in if you would like to see what I did with our 30 year old Fort Worth fixer upper.

  7. Does a wedding dress count as the most expensive?? LOL! and I still bought a bargain dress at $600! I would say my most expensive after that is my Hunter Boots or Coach purse. I'm a big bargain shopper so I don't spend a lot on clothes....but I sure do have enough!

  8. The Bobeau wrap cardi is, hands down, the single greatest investment I've made at Nordstrom. And dewclawed kitties is a great way to describe it!

  9. Thanks for the tip on the fleece cardigans. I have purchased two and love them. The label says to hand wash and dry flat, but I usually ignore the washing directions and put everything in the dryer. Have your ever dried yours in the dryer? If so, did it shrink?

    1. I haven't dried mine yet...but I'd be devastated if it shrank!!!

  12. The most expensive thing in my closet is the the dress I wore this past weekend for my son's wedding! And yup, I got it at Nordstrom, and yup it was affordable at $180.00 buckaroos, and yup I looked fabulous... and the shoes! Got those at DSW and they were only $50.00 ( not expensive at all, just had to mention the shoes) they are equally fabulous!

  15. Cassie! Dying to know whether the small
    Or extra small fit best?!

  16. Not sure if this will count, but the most expensive item I have in my closet is an Ellen Tracy crepe wool dress that retailed at Dillards for $900 (this was back in 1987). I was able to get it on sale for $75! My wedding dress didn't even cost $900! This dress is still a classic style and I could still wear it today. Sadly, I shell out a lot of $$ for my clothes and shoes, so I have some very expensive pieces in closet (but I haven't paid over $200 for any one piece of clothing).

  17. Cassie - Does the fleece cardi cover your tooshie when you wear leggings????? My closet - most expensive items are Dooney handbags (gifts), my Prairie Underground hoodie (WANT WANT the Long Cloak for Christmas) and Maui Jim sunglasses....

  18. Cassie, curious what you thought of the lace dress? The $40 one from Nordstrom juniors department… Did either of the sizes fit you well, are you keeping it, and if so, what shoes are you wearing with it…?

    1. Hi girlie!! I kept the XS, but could probably have worn the S as well. The small would have given me a little more breathing room, but the XS works.
