Sugarplum Style Vol. 5

Halleluiah, it's Friday! I'm so thrilled you guys liked my How to Pack 10 Days in 1 Carry-On yesterday...and I loved reading about all your upcoming trips! How about in exchange for my tips, you take me with you!? That seems like a fair deal to me!

Remember my 'Simple Formula for Transitioning to Fall' post? It's in full swing with this round of Sugarplum Style...lots of lightweight jackets and cozy scarves. Fall creeps in slowly here, with chilly mornings and warm afternoons, so I can still get away with bare legs or arms occasionally.

I love to pair shorts or a skirt with long sleeves, or jeans with a tank and scarf. That's what I love most about Fall fashion...it's a hybrid of Summer and Winter. But just because the weather is cooler, my combinations aren't any less colorful! Plaid is everywhere this season, and I'm on the bandwagon...starting with this adorable shirt with gingham cuffs

Since pairing this skirt with a striped top in our Back to School Style post, it's been in my weekly rotation. Such a simple outfit, paired with a basic white tee, but the dots and floral amp it up a notch.

Floral Scarf (similar) | Polka Dot Skirt | White Tee | Bag (similar) | Sandals (similar)

I love most every plaid, but am especially drawn to those with pink, for a more feminine feel.

Yep, still wearing my white jeans after Labor Day! See five more ways here.

Tassel Necklace (similar) | Ring | Pearl Cluster Bracelet

Oh look, polka dot skirt again. This time with a sweet bird sweater. I think about The Notebook every time I wear it, "If you're a bird, I'm a bird." #swoon

This shirt is actually sleeveless, but it has a nice swing shape to it, so it's more season-appropriate than a traditional fitted tank top.

Leopard Scarf (similar) | Striped Tee | Distressed Jeans | Boots

This was one of my favorite Date Night looks from last month. The ruffle neck helps distract from my dirty, ponytail hair.

Ruffle Blouse (similar) | Stripe Shorts (similar) | Wedge Sandals | Leopard Clutch (similar)

This military vest saw a lot of action, too (see full shots in our Casual Date Night Style post)...it's perfect for those days when you don't quite need a jacket, and the extra layer is cute.

Stripes + anything is forever my favorite.

I retired my beloved black and white bag for the season, and am mildly obsessed with Barrington's new reptile pattern. Go ahead and get excited, I may or may not be giving another one away soon. #Iam #somuchforthesurprise

Another day, another vest, another plaid. I love a good puffer vest, but this one is great because it doesn't add bulk. Who needs more bulk?!

Watch | Spike Bracelet (use code SUGARPLUM25 for 25% off you order!)

Animal Print Skirt (similar) | Khaki Shirt | Tassel Necklace | Sandals (similar)

Are you seeing a pattern here? Plaid + Vest + Boots = my uniform.

Plaid Infinity Scarf (similar) | Gray Tee | Distressed Jeans

A few things worth mentioning...both of my watches are currently 25% off! I toggle between this tortoise one for a casual look, and this gold one to kick it up a notch. And these boots are still on sale for $50, not to mention, all sizes are re-stocked! What's your Fall uniform been lately? Happy weekend, love bugs!

UPDATE! My actual cognac bag with the zippers, shown in most of these pics, is now back in stock! Check out here.

    1. Thank you so much, Jessica! It's taken a few years to find the style I"m most comfortable in...which means that will probably change again in a few more years! ;)

  2. What polish are you wearing on your fingers and toes? It's a great transition color.

    1. Hi Riley! I looked back through the pics, and only the last shows my polish...and that's a dark pink. I'm so bad about knowing polish colors! The color I'm wearing now for Fall (and not seen here) is by Essie, and it's a kind of brownish/purple mushroom. Does that help?! ;) xo

    2. Thanks for checking.

Don't forget your toes...they're in several pictures.
Love the dark pink, and I love Essie. It wears so well for me, so much better than OPI!

  3. Crazy cute post today! Love your "uniform". Odd question for you: what socks do you wear with your booties? I can never find any that are thin enough and/or will stay on my feet!

    1. Yay ! I love odd questions!! I wear ankle athletic socks...that way my feet are comfy, and they stay put! I hate when socks slide up the heel!!! If you look closely, you can see them in the pics...I think I need to get a few dark pair! ;) xo

  9. You are like my candy at work! Could you share where your original necklace in the photo with the pink plaid and Kate Spade bag (WANT!!!!) is from. I imagine you probably got it at a local shop or etc. but would love to have that info too! When you put "similar" would you mind ever disclosing the original. I understand it is from another season/no longer available, but am still curious on brand, etc.

Also, we do a yearly local "wine tasting" with friends each fall. I am wondering if I can hunt up a militarily vest before tomorrow for my outfit!

Have a WONDERFUL weekend. I adore your blog! You are so darn much fun!

    1. Hey girlie!! The actual necklace is from Old Navy! They have a great in-store selection of jewels, but for some reason, don't put any of them online. I hate to confuse people by linking to a home page, but I can start doing that if it's helpful!? Happy weekend!

  11. You are just too cute! I'm loving all of these outfits. One of my favorite fall looks is jeans, paired with a cute top and finished off with a blazer (cuffs rolled up). The blazer gives it a more finished feel (maybe that's just me hanging onto a piece of my old "big firm lawyer" self). Ha! I just posted some great tips for family photo styling at my new blog: thejoyfulhomeblog.blogspot.com. I'd love for you to check it out!

  16. Cassie! Long time reader, first time commentor here! I love, love, love your blog and your style! Regarding the distressed jeans pictured, can you comment on the sizing? I usually wear a size 2-4 in jeans and wanted to know how these jeans tend to run. Thank you!

    1. Hi Debi!! Thanks so much for the sweet comment! I'm usually a 2/26 in jeans, and that's what I wear in these. They are a tad tight through my calves, but I have bigger calves. I couldn't size up though, bc they'd get too slouchy in the waist. They do relax and stretch after a few wears. I'd say order 26 if you like them fitted, and 27 if you prefer a little more room. xoxo or order them both and return the ones that don't work...free shipping and returns! ;)

  22. I love every outfit! But I always love your style. More importantly, and this may seem like the weirdest question ever, but I would love to see a picture of your hand and how you hold your phone, when you are taking these selfies from this angle. I swear, I try it on a daily basis, and I still can't get it just right. It's killing me! I must know your secret!!
