Sugarplum Style {Vol.1}

I've never totally thought of myself as a home blogger, or a DIY blogger...probably because I don't have any design training nor own power tools. But also because I'm interested in too many things to stay true to a single niche. I guess if I had to label it, I'd be a lifestyle blogger....which basically gives me a free pass to write about whatever I want.

I figure if you stop by on a day I'm blabbing about food, and you happen to be fasting (what are you thinking?!), then you'll just move on. Same is true for fashion....maybe you're a nudist, or you don't care for my style...but I love creating outfits as much as creating rooms, so I share it here. Many are shown in the {Outfit Inspiration} posts, but I thought it'd be fun to share my more casual, everyday outfits in a new series called Sugarplum Style.

Sugarplum Style - Hashtag

You can follow along on InstaGram using #SugarplumStyle, but these are the most popular from the past month.

Striped Tee | Yellow Shorts | Leopard Belt (similar)
Tortoise Watch | Wishbone Necklace (similar)

Striped Dress | Cardigan | Statement Necklace (similar) | Watch | Gold Flip Flops

As this series continues (I'll run it every three weeks or so), you'll see how I recycle the same affordable items over and over, yet create new looks each time. I don't think you need a lot of clothes to have a big wardrobe. What's your everyday style? Clearly mine involves stripes.

  8. Love this post! So many great ideas. Will come in handy during the summer months when casual attire is more acceptable. Your outfits are casual, yet so classy looking. Please continue to post more.

    1. Thanks so much, Steph! This is definitely my favorite time of year for clothes...so colorful and casual! so yes, expect to see more fashion throughout the summer...mixed in with the house and home stuff!! ;)

  9. Funny you talked about not staying true to one niche - I was just thinking about that the other day. Some of my favorite posts to date have nothing to do with home stuff, it's the real life posts I'm most proud of.....maybe because they're part therapeutic. ;) On another note- I have tried to buy those ding dang gold flip flops three different times in the store and they NEVER have my size - gah! Maybe I should just order them online. #smallfootproblems Love this new series friend!!

    1. I love your personal posts, too...they make me brave to share more as well! And I adore those Old Navy flip flops...look just the like the pricey J.Crew ones...except these have a padded insole! #bonus And they don't come in half sizes, so I went up a size.

  11. Love it. And I TOTALLY recycle the same outfits. I basically could just put out a list of 20 things each season and email it to anyone who wants to know because chances are I'm wearing it again and again.

  12. I couldn't agree more. You really don't need more than a couple pairs of lounge pants. They rotate well, and they can go anywhere! :) You're cute.

    1. You are so welcome, Aimee. Creating the outfits and finding links to the items, or similar items, does take time...but I'm always so appreciative when other bloggers do it, so I figured you guys would too. So frustrating when you fall in love with something, and don't know where it came from!! xo

  15. LOVE that you're doing this! I am in a transition phase from young adult hood to mommy hood and definitely love your style. It is perfect mommy stylish wear. Ha! Great post! Keep em coming!

    1. I remember that transition...a little hard for me to find my footing with what I thought was 'appropriate' for my new 'mommy' label. But really your style doesn't have to change...you're still the same person. Our style evolves based on stages of our life, but I don't go for the 'rules' anymore. I say wear what you love and feel comfortable in!! xo

  16. There are 69 links in this post. rstyle links... where you earn a commission if anyone follows a link and buys something.

Shouldn't that fact be disclosed to your readers?

    1. Hi Karen -- thanks for the comment on the post and Facebook today! I responded to you on facebook, and I'm happy to talk about it here, as well. Yes, there are a lot of links in today's post...that's because I created 10 original outfits for readers to use as inspiration, and people like to know where to find the items I'm showing.

My Advertise page has full discloser regarding my occasional use Reward Style and Amazon affiliate links. And just as an FYI, not all links in today's post (or any other post) are Reward Style...if I buy an item at a store that doesn't participate in Reward Style, I link it and that store anyway. I choose items to showcase based on what I like and would actually buy for myself, not based on the commission.

Also, there is no additional cost to you for buying through one of my links. I do receive a small commission if you make a purchase, but it's no different than a salesperson working with you in a store receiving a commission.

I hope this answers your questions and concerns! xo. C

  19. I love this series! And by the way, thank you for your post on "favorite white jeans" a few months back. I took your advise and bought them and you were spot on! They are awesome! I know it may sound shallow, but what I appreciate most are all your posts on style and fashion! You always include practical tips and offer links to affordable pieces. As a Mom of 4, it's nice to have a place like your blog to get some fashion inspiration from another Mom!

    1. There's nothing shallow about wanting to feel good and confident in your own skin...and a cute outfit goes a long way to help that! ;) And it can totally be done with affordable items! So glad you liked the white jeans! xo

  20. I love your clothing related posts. The pictures in this post though make it kind of hard to see the outfit. Would you consider taking a picture of yourself in the mirror ala Pinterest Made Me Do It? I'm really excited about this series though. Can't wait for the next one. Your pink gingham blouse inspired me to get a similar one in purple recently.

    1. Funny you say that, Lynne...bc Sheaffer actually tried to give me a tutorial on how to take those selfies in the mirror!! I failed her selfie course, so this is what I do. :) It's really just to show you colors and patterns, so you can look in your own closet and create something similar with what you have. So thrilled you like the series! xo

  21. Love this new series Cassie! I know it's a lot of work to put all of the links and info together and tKe all of your photos, so thank you for all that you do. I just popped over on a few links and bought a few new blouses/tops! Your outfits are always fun and beautifully put together. Where is the link for sweet Maggie? Kidding of course. What a great dog she is.

  24. Great idea - you have the cutest everyday style! Always love your use of belts too, instantly gives a casual look a bit of polish. I have the shortest torso pretty much ever though, so belts tend to look slightly awkward on me. Unfortunate, because I'm always inspired by your use of them!
