{Field Trip} Ikea

If you follow me on InstaGram (@CassieSugarplum), then you know I made the trip to Ikea last week. Like many, I devoured the new Fall Catalog as soon as it arrived, earmarking all the new items I wanted to check out in person. Fortunately (or not?!), I work across the street from Ikea, and can easily stop in. Our store just re-opened the Marketplace level, so it showed the wear-and-tear of a crazy weekend, and many new items were already sold out. Boo.

Instead of re-hashing the catalog, I'll just show you my favorites and must-buys, linking whenever possible. This map isn't new, but now I'm imagining it as a headboard in a tween boy's room! (Here are so good tips for hanging them.)

Untitled

With these drawers on wheels flanking the bed. I love the masculine, industrial look.

Untitled

Obviously I had night-stands on the brain, because I really loved the idea of using these drawers in a bedroom.

Untitled

Just like the Rast, I foresee this chest being hacked a million times. I think the Tarva is a step-up because of the legs though.

Untitled

I loved these cool industrial floor lamps, and couldn't help but wonder how they'd look with an antique brass spraypaint!! Why do we feel the need to hack everything Ikea comes out with?

 Untitled

On to the good stuff...accessories! These aluminum bowls and platter didn't disappoint, and certainly bring a lot of bang for the buck.

Untitled

This time of year, I can hardly resist bright-colored outdoor dishes....these just couldn't be any cuter.

Untitled

And dots? It was hard to walk away from these.

Untitled

Now let's talk about the essentials...the items used behind-the-scenes of a home, and are perfectly priced at Ikea. Great looking pillows are expensive enough...the hardest part is having to shell out more for a good down insert. How about these 20" x 20" for $7?!

Untitled

The Pluggis bins are a little more than basic plastic bins from Target or Walmart, but the sizes are perfect for so many spaces...not to mention, they give organizing projects a polished finish. They were certainly the superstar in my Pantry Makeover.

Untitled

I receive emails every week about the dividers I used in our Family Drop Spot...well folks, here they are!

Untitled

And also the cable management box I used to create our Charging Station.

Untitled

Lastly, I've been searching all our local nurseries for another Money Tree (I love ours!) Leave it to Ikea to have a full pallet of them for $25 each!

Untitled

My basket was full at check-out, and I even had to bring Mr. Sugarplum back to help with a few things. You'll have to wait to see all the goodies we brought home! Have you made a trip to the big blue & yellow lately? Do you get anxiety just walking through the giant doors, or can you navigate it with ease? I'm able to blow through the store quickly, but refuse to go on the weekends! Thank goodness we have one in our backyard, or this would be us every trip...

  2. Yep, that's going to be us in the UHaul if I can get back down there. It's a6 hour trip from where we live. So jealous you're that close! Maybe that would be a bad thing for me ;)

  3. I love Ikea, but I definitely get major anxiety when I go there. It's pretty far from our home, so when we go, it's for a lot. I'm usually fine at first, but by the time we are heading to the checkout, I feel like running toward the exit and pushing people who are in my way. Lol. Does that make me a bad person? ;-) I love your finds and can't wait to see what you went home with!

  4. I used to work across the street from Ikea too (at the JCP headquarters). I was in there all of the time at lunch. Now that I work in Allen, I don't make it to Frisco as much.

Funny you show the picture of the Uhaul in the parking lot. We had to do that one time when we bought a king-sized bed, mattress and side tables. It was WAY cheaper than paying for their delivery service to McKinney! ;)

  5. Our Ikea is about 30 minutes away. Thanks goodness. I'm working on a project and need to get there for a few things. Unfortunately, (or fortunately) I know I will probably come home with more than I planned.

  6. So fun. I walked around Ikea the other day and left with $1 scrub brush. What is wrong with me. May have to revisit. And I will be hear to par-tay it up tomorrow. Gave homage to your brass animals today!

  9. Oh Ikea! The closest one to us is 2 hrs. away so I always have to have an exact plan when we go (and plenty of money) I wish there was one closer!

  11. Oh my gosh! I hit up the Ikea this weekend too, and had thought I was the only one to discover those 20x20 down inserts!! The cat is out of the bag apparently :-) I was worried they'd be flat and sad looking, but they are amazing. Best find of the day!!

    Love your blog!

  12. Ugh, so bummed. I have no Ikea near me:(

  13. If I worked across the street from an Ikea, let's just say I wouldn't have a job for much longer. My boss would find me sitting at one of their office setups, staring into space.....I'd invite her into of their kitchen setups for a drink so she wouldn't fire me.

Alas the nearest one to me is 45 min away so when we do go, it's like the olden days where we have to plan our market list before "going into town" Love your snaps! I'm eyeing the Hemnes shoe cabinet myself!

  14. I want to go to an Ikea sooo bad! But I overwhelm really easily so I know I'll need some help from Mr. Xanax before I attempt a visit. I really like the stuff you picked, makes me more excited to visit the big Blue & Yellow..

  15. We moved from SoCal with 2 Ikeas in 20 miles to New Orleans where the closest one is 6 hours away. Major withdrawals!!! I did discover BlueBag - you send them your shopping list and they go to Ikea and deliver your goods a few days later. Well worth the price of delivery. Love
