{Outfit Inspiration} Red, White & Blue

Red, white and blue may stir feelings of patriotism, especially with Memorial Day holiday just around the corner. And sometimes using the combination in decor can be a bit kitschy. But if you take away the stars, stripes and flags, you're left with a striking and gorgeous palette.

I love that it's elegantly preppy, but also laid-back and nautical at the same time.

After my post about Colored Pants, I couldn't buy a pair fast enough, and was lucky to stumble across these. I've been having a lot of fun pairing them with different tops, but this is my favorite so far.

The red stripes are subdued, so the pants are still the focus of the outfit. I kept my shoes and accessories neutral to avoid looking like a walking candy dish.

This was a weekend outfit, so my hair was completely undone...which often leads to hats.

The stylish Julia at Pawley's Island Posh posted these gorgeous combinations for blue pants. I love them with leopard flats, and next time I think I'll try dressing them up for evening.

So how do you feel about red, white and blue together? Do you love this outfit, or are you saluting me right now?

  1. You look ridiculously cute in your fedora! My 10y.o. daughter pulls off this look but I'm a wienie. Red, white and blue...I'm a fan.

  2. I like red white and blue ok, but I'm more drawn to turquoise, white and orange (which is what I have on today). Love those colors together.

I tried on a pair of red Rock and Republic jeans a few months ago, but dang, they seemed to not have any room for the curve of my hips! I'm a petite girl, but I still have some curves. Disappointing. :(
