I started with our Thankful Tree because I love the height and bright color. The rest is pretty simple, some left over from the Halloween Mantel. The grapevine pumpkins, previously used on the Halloween Porch, are from Target's Dollar Spot. The Ikea sheepskin throw makes for a cozy spot to sit in front of the fire (assuming it cools down another 50 degrees!)
Mini pumpkins are stacked atop brass candlesticks for varying height. Something in the brass reacts funky with the pumpkins though, so be sure to check them frequently for rot and mold. I actually keep small squares of paper towel under the pumpkins so they don't make contact with the brass.
The gold votives were a quick and easy project....I swirled metallic gold craft paint around the inside of a clear glass votive until it was fully coated, then secured a strip of gold Greek key ribbon around the outside with double-stick tape.
The paint wasn't dry when I took these pics, so there's no lit candle in them. But at night, it's a nice, warm glow. (Kind of like my gold-lined lampshades!)
Creating this mantel was so fun because I didn't have to work around a big gaping hole in the wall!
If you're playing catch-up on this area, you can read about the Mirror Makeover and Painting the Brick Fireplace.
So while the shelf-life of this mantel may be short, it will be the perfect backdrop for our Thanksgiving table. Which, by the way, I haven't started, but I do have fun placecards to show you tomorrow! What Thanksgiving stuff are you working on?
