Today we're taking a break from paint, and talking hair! If there's one thing most girls have in common, it's the love/hate relationship we have with our hair. If you're like me, your hair saga goes something like this:
Grow hair out
Get sick of it!
Chop hair off!!
Love it, wonder why you ever grew it long?
Regret cutting it, wish it would grow faster!!
Then as soon as you reach perfect ponytail length, chop it off again??
And don't get me started on products and heating tools, not to mention the time! I have such a hodge-podge collection of half-used bottles, that I really have no idea what is best for my hair. But I do get a lot of emails about my hair (thank you, by the way!), so today I thought I'd share my single most important hair product....Dry Shampoo!
This will gross some of you out, but I don't wash my hair every day. Or even every other day. (Settle down, I do bathe every day!!!) I try to combat all the stress it gets from styling, by not washing and blow-drying too often. It also helps to prolong the life of my, ahem, color. Yes, I do get some help in the blonde department. And sometimes hair just needs a little refresh, not a full wash!
Dry shampoo is the only way I'm able to skip shampooing, since it absorbs excess oil and removes odors. It is also my biggest morning time saver. (Hence why it's also one of the
Top Hair Products for School)The market has no shortage of pricey dry shampoos to choose from, but I'm mostly a drugstore girl when it comes to my hair products (except conditioner, I spring for the good stuff!). So when the nice people at TRESemme asked me to review their new, affordable, TRESemmé Fresh Start Dry Shampoo, I jumped at the chance!
The first thing I noticed is the fresh smell. The second was how seamlessly it blended with my hair. Some dry shampoos leave a powdery finish, creating a Grandma Butterworth look. Not cute. And certainly not discreet! I sprayed the TRESemme Fresh Start in my roots, waited a few minutes before combing it through, then I had fresh hair that looked like it'd just been washed!
Here are some tips for using dry shampoo successfully:
- Do shake vigorously before use and in between spray bursts for best results.
- Do lift sections of dry hair and spray lightly at roots
- Do spray in short bursts, holding 8-12 inches from head
- Don’t spray it like hair spray (all over and continuously)
- Do leave in for 1-2 minutes.
- Do use fingertips or a brush to distribute product evenly
I'm excited to finally find an affordable dry shampoo, and can't wait to try out the full line of TRESemme Fresh Start shampoos. Have you tried this product yet? Are you a daily shampooer, or do you skip?
