Off the Shelf

Thank you all so much for your kind comments on Friday's post. It's an amazing feeling to know you have friends everywhere backing you up! I'm constantly astounded by all the unexpected blessings blogging has brought to my life. I hope you know the feeling is mutual!!

The school year is now in full-swing, and life's demands are picking up. These days I'm dreaming less about paint, and more about a quiet afternoon alone at the book store! Sitting with a pumpkin spice latte in hand (aaaah, Fall!), I could lose myself in these books.

This one isn't out yet, but it looks to be another good addition to my Book Wish List!

Do you have any of these in your collection? What would you do with an afternoon to yourself?

And a very special Happy Birthday to my Mr. Sugarplum! I adore you!

  1. oh gosh, I just read your Friday post, so sorry about your loss. sending thoughts and prayers your way.

  2. I'm so sad that the Borders right up the street closed its doors. I could get lost in there for hours! Now I have to drive 20 minutes to Barnes & Noble. On my most recent trip I picked up DesignSponge and have been flipping through it over&over&over again.

  3. Doesn't the thought of sitting in a quiet space and reading a great book sound like such a luxury? Sigh...I'd love to do the same!

  4. I've got the Decorate book and i love it. There's nothing like picking up a new book to savour an afternoon away. Sitting and reading seems like such a rare thing nowadays :)

  5. I just read Friday's post too... sending you virtual hugs. I have Decorate and love it... next on my list is Design Sponge.

  6. Looks like I need to hop on Amazon and start ordering. They all look like great books that need to be in my collection.

  7. Aw, happy birthday, Mr. Sugarplum! And this just gave me a LOOOOONG list of design reading that I need to get to...especially that 1000 ideas for every room in your home??? Heaven knows I need more ideas for switching things up! Sarcastic comment or not? I'll never tell (c:

  8. What, a quiet afternoon with a latte? Can I go too?? (I promise I won't talk) Great book choices :o)

  9. Just snagged UNDECORATE up at my library. Therapy on paper.
So sorry for your loss but also happy for the birth of your Mr.

  10. Oh. I love these books! I don't have any of them but several look good - esp. the Dwell and Adler numbers. My favorite hardcover decorating book is the Domino book. It's sooo good and even though I've had it for years, I see something new every time I flip through it. Oh how I wish I had saved those old Domino issues.

  11. I have Decorate! And I was able to get it signed by Holly at her SF book signing (: So fun! Love all these other picks, too. Happy birthday to the Mr!

  12. Hope you're blowin' up the club for the Sugarplum's celebration! ;) I am so with you on the quiet reading time. In fact, in my frenzy I subscribed to three more shelter mags so I can do just that {with my salted caramel mocha!}

  13. I propose a nation-wide day off for coffee and book day! And HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Mr. Sugarplum! Hope you guys have a wonderful celebration! (i.e. possibly some "mirror hanging").

  14. Happy Birthday Mr. SP!!! I miss my leisurely afternoons at the bookstore!!!

Your comments are like popcorn with milk duds, I just can't quit them. Thanks for taking the time to share your positive thoughts! xoxo, cass
