{Inspiration} Boy's Room

Let's take a break from the Craft Party, shall we? It was getting a little too wild and crazy. Today I'll show you the pictures I collected while brainstorming my son's new room. This is really the best way for me to figure out what I want to do in a room.....scour images on blogs, shelter magazines, google image, etc...saving the ones that really jump out at me. Then deciding what elements from those pictures I want to steal create.

I knew I didn't want a room with a theme (sports team, hobby, repeating animal or object), but I also didn't want it to feel like a guest room, or void of my guy's spunky personality. The room also needed to be age appropriate for the next stages of his life, with room to grow and change with him. Big shoes to fill. Oh, and did I mention I had to do it on the cheap?!?

You already know I love stripes, since I painted them in my guest bath:

I love the look of two twin beds, but my son already had a perfectly good bed, so that part was a no-go. But I do love that peek of texture in the rug.

I love the combo of brown and white...and the stripes are amazing next to the really clean bed:

More chocolate brown and white with non-fussy bedding:

Ooooooh, disproportionate stripes -- I think they help to make it more masculine:

LOVE a big map in a child's room....I want to inspire wanderlust and fascination with seeing the world and how others live:

A good student needs an organized work space, and I love vertical storage:

This picture solidified all the ideas I was having, and served as the final inspiration for the new room:

orange brown bedroom - lonny

Orange, brown, stripes, clean lines, texture, mature and masculine, good work space...and I think I hit it out of the park....but my son will be the one to determine that! Can't wait for him to get home and see!!!

And since I've gotten so good at being a's a peek at what happened last weekend:

Sanity was tested...but with my son as the finish line, I prevailed!
